REDEFINE FITNESS
FITNESS IS MEDICINE
Every number is published before you apply.
We run two private medical fitness facilities on the North Shore of Long Island. Our clients do not shop for a gym, they arrive on a physician referral because something in their health has to change. We are hiring people who want that to be the job.
What we do differently, and you can check us on it
Every posting below states the pay, the schedule, the standard you are measured on, and what happens if you miss it. Not one of them says competitive salary or growth opportunity.
We would rather have a hard conversation in the interview than a surprise on a paycheck. If a number on this page is not in your written offer, it is not real, and you should hold us to that.
Sales
One sales seat, fully remote, open to any U.S. state, offered two ways. Take it as a W2 employee with a base salary and benefits, or as a 1099 contractor who keeps 16% from the first dollar and runs it as a business. Same book, same leads. Whichever is signed first closes the other. There is no cap and no dial quota on either.
Remote Sales Closer
$40,000 base plus uncapped commission
$61,000 to $145,000 a year. 12% above the floor, 20% higher up, 25% higher than that. No cap and the rate only goes up.
- One rule: every new lead gets touched inside 5 minutes. No dial quota, no call script quota, no activity report. You are not paid for effort and you will not be managed on it.
- You get the entire GoHighLevel database, thousands of leads going back years, plus direct outreach on every social platform. Leads you create yourself pay double.
- The floor is written in Core AC prices, not dollars, so it moves when our prices move and never quietly eats a raise.
- Hold a 12% close rate on assigned leads for a quarter and the ad budget behind your pipeline goes up 50%. Your ceiling is lead flow you earned.
- $1,200 guaranteed minimum commission for your first two pay periods. Non exempt W2, every hour paid, and your base is trued up if your local minimum wage is higher.
Remote Sales Closer, 1099 Contractor
16% of everything you collect, from the first dollar
$70,000 to $140,000 a year on the book as it runs today. 32% on leads you create yourself. PIF pays 5% flat. No base, no draw, no floor, no tiers, no cap.
- Same book, same leads, same product as the W2 seat. Different deal: you run it as your own business, you use your own phone and computer, and you can work for other clients.
- One allocation rule: a lead with no logged contact in 24 hours goes back in the pool. No script, no monitoring, no activity reports.
- You sell every Redefine offering at list: training programs, nutrition, stretch, sauna. Nutrition is delivered virtually, so you can sell it to anyone in the country at 32% when you bring the lead.
- Paid every two weeks on collected cash, within 15 days of period close. Refunds inside 28 days come back off.
- Commission only. No salary, no benefits, no guarantee. If you have never closed on pure commission, the W2 seat above is the better door.
Training
Three seats, three different trades between rate and certainty. Part time pays a higher hourly than full time because the full time seat carries a guaranteed minimum of 38 paid hours a week and the part time seats do not.
Fitness Specialist
$17.00 an hour for 30 days, then $24.04
Scheduled 40 hours. Guaranteed minimum 38 paid hours a week, a $47,503 wage floor. Realistic first year total $55,303 before supplements, bonus and your annual raise.
- The Fitness Instructor apprenticeship, registered with the New York State Department of Labor and run through SUNY Suffolk County Community College. We are a participating employer. Participation is by invitation, and at 38 hours a week the 2,000 hour apprenticeship finishes in about a year.
- Almost every trainer job on Long Island pays per session. Client cancels, you do not get paid. Here that risk is ours.
- Medical, vision and dental with employer contribution. 401(k) with a 1% match. NYS paid sick and safe leave up to 40 hours, plus vacation. Free training at both facilities and 35% off supplements from day one.
- Permanent raises on an annual ladder, $500 at Silver up to $3,500 at Diamond, published on a board that updates every morning at six.
Fitness Specialist, Part Time
$17.00 an hour for 30 days, then $25.00 to $28.00
25 hours a week. $32,500 to $36,400 a year.
- The Fitness Instructor apprenticeship, registered with the New York State Department of Labor and run through SUNY Suffolk County Community College. Participation is by invitation. At 25 hours a week the 2,000 hour apprenticeship takes about a year and a half.
- Free by 12:30 every weekday. Built for someone taking afternoon and evening classes.
- Higher hourly than our full time seat, because that seat carries a 38 hour guarantee and this one does not. You are paid more for carrying the schedule risk.
- Scheduled under 30 hours, so no health, dental, vision or 401(k) at this level. We would rather say that here than in week three.
Fitness Specialist, Weekends
$17.00 an hour for 30 days, then $30.00
14 hours a week. $420.00 a week, $21,840 a year.
- You are not building a book. You are taking one over. These clients are already paying, already scheduled, already showing up.
- $30.00 is the highest hourly rate we pay a trainer. It is also our smallest seat, and both of those are true.
- The Fitness Instructor apprenticeship, registered with the New York State Department of Labor and run through SUNY Suffolk County Community College, by invitation. Straight talk: at 14 hours a week the 2,000 hour apprenticeship takes close to three years. If the credential is the point, take the full time seat.
- Two mornings a week. Five weekdays completely clear.
This is not a $50,000 job
Everyone advertises a base and stops there. Here is the whole thing, with the part we guarantee separated from the part you earn.
| Guaranteed, before you sell anything | Per year |
|---|---|
| Wages at the 38 hour guarantee, $24.04 an hour | $47,503 |
| Wages at 40 scheduled hours, the normal week | $50,003 |
| 401(k) match at 1% of gross | $500 |
| Earned by working the Standard, at a pace a first year trainer can actually hit | Per year |
|---|---|
| One client referral a month that signs and stays 30 days, at $300 | $3,600 |
| Two upgrades or add ons a month, at $50 | $1,200 |
| Realistic total, built on the 40 hour week | $55,303 |
One referral a month is the whole trick
That is the number to hold in your head. One client a month who trusts you enough to send someone in, and two people a month who upgrade after they see their Week 11 scan. That is not a stretch target, it is what the job looks like when you are doing it properly.
And that $55,303 does not yet include 15% on every supplement you sell, the quarterly bonus, your permanent annual raise of $500 to $3,500 on the Standard ladder, medical dental and vision, paid time off, or the registered apprenticeship at SUNY Suffolk. The raise ladder and the quarterly bonus are written into the offer letter you sign, not parked in a handbook we can change on a Tuesday.
Every trainer starts at $17.00 an hour for 30 calendar days
Every seat, every hire, experienced or not. On day one you are handed a written eleven point checklist. Clear it and you step to your seat rate on the next pay period.
Day 30 is a decision date, in writing, every time. Either you step up, or you get one documented 14 day extension with the specific open items named, or we part ways. Never a silent continuation, and never an open ended trial.
We pay our people to find our people
If you already work here, this is real money and there is no limit on how many you can refer. Half pays at their day 30, half at their day 90.
| You refer someone we hire as | Bounty |
|---|---|
| Sales Executive, full time | $2,000 |
| Fitness Specialist, full time | $2,000 |
| Sales Executive, part time | $750 |
| Fitness Specialist, part time | $750 |
| Any other full time role | $1,000 |
| Any other part time role | $500 |
How hiring actually runs here
Application to offer is 14 days. If we go quiet on you past that, something broke on our end and you should email us about it.
STEP 1
Triage, 24 hours. Every application gets a real answer. Trainers need a current NCCA accredited cert and current CPR/AED to go further.
STEP 2
Screen call, 15 minutes. Five questions. We will tell you the pay, the standard and the onboarding terms on this call, not at the offer.
STEP 3
The tryout. Sales candidates run a working session. Trainers sit a written test and coach three lifts. You do the actual job before we pay you to do it.
STEP 4
Interview, then verification. Certification confirmed with the issuing body and references called. A background check after a conditional offer. Our clients arrive on physician referral and you work with them one on one, so we screen. A record is reviewed individually under New York Correction Law Article 23-A and does not automatically disqualify you.
STEP 5
Written offer. Full compensation math, standards and thresholds in writing. Nothing gets negotiated at the table because nothing is hidden.
Questions we get asked
If the answer you need is not here, ask us on the screen call. We would rather tell you now than have you find out in week three.
What does a personal trainer make at Redefine Fitness on Long Island?
Every Fitness Specialist starts at $17.00 an hour for 30 calendar days. After that the full time seat pays $24.04 an hour with a guaranteed minimum of 38 paid hours a week, a wage floor of $47,503 a year. The Stony Brook part time seat pays $25.00 to $28.00 an hour and the weekend seat pays $30.00 an hour, the highest hourly rate we pay a trainer.
Do you pay personal trainers per session or hourly?
Hourly, for every scheduled hour, whether the client shows up or not. Almost every trainer job on Long Island pays per session, which means a cancellation costs you money. Our full time seat also carries a guaranteed minimum of 38 paid hours a week, so a slow week is our risk and not yours.
What certifications do you accept for personal trainers?
A current NCCA accredited certification. NASM, ACE, NSCA and ACSM all qualify, as do equivalent NCCA accredited credentials. You also need a current CPR and AED card. We confirm the certification directly with the issuing body before an offer becomes final.
Do I need a degree to work as a personal trainer here?
No. A bachelor’s in exercise science, kinesiology or a related field is preferred and not required. A certified trainer with five years of real clients beats a degree with none. If you want the degree, the registered apprenticeship is pointed directly at that.
Do you offer tuition assistance?
What we offer is more specific than that. It is the Fitness Instructor apprenticeship registered with the New York State Department of Labor, run through SUNY Suffolk County Community College, and Redefine Fitness is a participating employer in it. It pairs 2,000 hours of paid on the job training with 244 hours of classroom instruction toward the credential. Participation is by invitation and is not guaranteed, and no dollar amount is promised in any offer. If you want the exercise science credential, this is a paid path toward it while you work.
How long does the registered apprenticeship take?
The New York State Fitness Instructor apprenticeship is 2,000 hours of on the job training plus 244 hours of classroom instruction. How long that takes depends entirely on your seat. Full time at 38 hours a week is about a year. Part time at 25 hours is about a year and a half. The weekend seat at 14 hours is close to three years. Nobody tells you that up front, so we are telling you now. If finishing the credential fast is the point, take the full time seat. Participation is by invitation.
What do you pay during the first 30 days?
$17.00 an hour for 30 calendar days. This applies to every Fitness Specialist hire without exception, full time, part time, weekend, experienced or not. On day one you receive a written eleven point checklist. Day 30 is a decision date in writing every time: you step to your seat rate, or you get one documented 14 day extension with the open items named, or we part ways. Checklist items that require five clean working days of logging count days you are actually scheduled to work, so the weekend seat clears them in five worked shifts, about 15 calendar days, still inside the 30 day window.
Do part time employees get benefits?
The part time and weekend seats are scheduled under 30 hours a week, so medical, dental, vision and 401(k) are not offered at that scheduling level. They do receive NYS Paid Sick and Safe Leave up to 40 hours a year, apprenticeship access by invitation, and from day one, free training at both facilities and 35% off supplements and services. The full time seat carries medical, vision and dental with employer contribution plus a 401(k) with a 1% match.
What ongoing education does the job require?
Three things, and all of them happen on the clock. A weekly Thursday education hour: the full time seat attends live, and the part time and weekend seats study the material and present what they learned inside their own scheduled hours, never on their own time. A monthly Sunday afternoon workshop, with the date announced at least 30 days in advance; you attending or a client of yours attending both satisfy it, and a client attending counts in full. And one build a year: the full time seat builds a workshop, the part time and weekend seats build a webinar or a workshop. Content and marketing participation as directed rounds it out.
Do you hire weekend only personal trainers?
Yes. The weekend Fitness Specialist seat is Saturday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM at our Mount Sinai facility, 14 hours a week at $30.00 an hour after onboarding. There are no weekday hours. You step into an established client book rather than building one.
What makes medical fitness different from a regular gym job?
Our clients arrive on a physician referral, not because they are shopping for a gym. You will see post physical therapy, post operative, GLP-1, osteoporosis, blood sugar and balance cases, and you run clinical grade programming for people who are motivated and paying attention. Average sale is over $2,200.
Where are your facilities located?
Two facilities on the North Shore of Long Island in Suffolk County. Mount Sinai, NY 11766 and Stony Brook, NY 11790. Every training position is in person. Our Remote Sales Closer seat is fully remote and you can work it from any U.S. state.
How long does your hiring process take?
Application to written offer is 14 days. Triage happens within 24 hours of applying and every application gets a real answer. The process runs triage, a 15 minute screen call, a working tryout, an interview with verification, then a written offer.
Do you hire salespeople without fitness industry experience?
Yes. We look for a year or more of consultative closing on tickets of $3,000 and up, by phone and video. Fitness, medical, retail, hospitality, home services and insurance all translate. You do not need to be a trainer, but you do need to believe in the product.
What is The Redefine Standard?
It is our annual performance season and the mechanism behind every raise. One point equals one dollar of weekly business you move. Where you finish the season sets a permanent dollar raise to your pay: $500 at Silver, $1,000 at Gold, $2,000 at Platinum and $3,500 at Diamond. Your rank sits on a board that updates every morning at six, and the ladder is written into the offer letter you sign.
Do you run background checks, and does a record disqualify me?
A background check runs after a conditional offer because our clients arrive on physician referral and you work with them one on one. A record is reviewed individually under New York Correction Law Article 23-A and does not automatically disqualify you. People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.
Do not see your seat? We are always hiring closers and trainers who fit the mission. Send a resume and one line on why to management@redefine-fitness.com. Either way, tell us where you found us. It decides where we look for the next person.
