Why we hired a Registered Dietitian

Because guidance isn't the same as clinical care.

For years, fitness businesses, ours included, could offer nutrition guidance: habits, structure, accountability. Useful, but capped. The moment your health history enters the picture, blood sugar, blood pressure, medications, a GI condition, a GLP-1 prescription, general guidance legally and ethically has to stop. That gap frustrated us, because that's exactly where our clients live.

So we closed it. Redefine's nutrition programs are now led by a Registered Dietitian, the highest nutrition credential there is. That changes what we're allowed to do for you: individualized medical nutrition therapy within her licensed scope, nutrition care built around your actual conditions, your labs, and your medications, coordinated with your training data and, when appropriate, your physician. Assessed, not guessed, now on your plate too.

Dietitian vs. "nutritionist", why it matters

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. Almost nothing is required to use that word. "Registered Dietitian" is a protected, board-certified credential, and if someone is building nutrition around your health, the difference is not academic.

Registered Dietitian (RD)

  • Accredited degree + supervised clinical practice hours
  • National board exam, registration, and required continuing education
  • Legally qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy, individualized care for medical conditions
  • Can work alongside your physician and your medications
  • Accountable to a professional code of ethics and a licensing board

"Nutritionist" (unregulated)

  • No required degree, exam, or supervised practice in most states
  • Limited to general wellness advice, cannot provide medical nutrition therapy
  • Cannot legally individualize for medical conditions in many settings
  • No licensing board, no formal accountability

If your nutrition needs to account for a real health history, the credential is the difference between guidance and care.

Nutrition FAQs

What's the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) has completed an accredited degree, supervised clinical practice hours, and a national board exam, and is legally qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy, individualized nutrition care for medical conditions. "Nutritionist" is an unregulated title in most states, with no required degree or exam, limited to general wellness advice. If your nutrition needs to account for a real health history, the credential is the difference between guidance and care.

Do I need a membership to work with the dietitian?

No. You can book a one-hour RD Consultation for $225 as a drop-in, with no membership required, ideal as a second opinion, a GLP-1 nutrition check, or a starting point. Ongoing programs (Nutrition Coaching from $90/week, Concierge Nutrition $190/week) are also available with or without training membership.

How much does nutrition coaching cost at Redefine?

Registered Dietitian consultation is $225 per hour (drop-in, no membership). Nutrition Coaching is $90 per week. Concierge Nutrition, our highest level of support, is $190 per week. Signature members receive a monthly RD nutrition consultation with InBody scan, and Elite members include Concierge Nutrition.

Can a dietitian help if I'm on a GLP-1 (like Ozempic or Wegovy)?

Yes. On a GLP-1 you're losing weight, and quietly at risk of losing muscle. Our Registered Dietitian builds nutrition to protect lean mass and get adequate protein through the loss, coordinated with your training so what's left is strong. We support your nutrition alongside your medication and your physician, we never advise on the drug itself.

Can the dietitian work with my doctor and my medical conditions?

Yes. As a Registered Dietitian, she can provide medical nutrition therapy within her licensed scope, building nutrition around your actual conditions, labs, and medications, and coordinating with your physician when appropriate. This is care a general "nutritionist" or trainer cannot legally provide.

Do you create custom meal plans?

Our Concierge Nutrition program includes fully customized macros and meal plans, weekly adjustments, weekly InBody scans, and priority access to your Registered Dietitian, plus real-time grocery, restaurant, and travel guidance. Nutrition Coaching focuses on personalized targets, check-ins, and accountability built from your data.
