Short answer: Medical fitness is not for everyone, and we would rather tell you that on this page than after you have paid us. If you have an untreated injury, want the cheapest possible gym, want the work done for you, or want a six-week transformation — we are the wrong choice, and below we will tell you what the right one is.
Most fitness companies will take anyone with a card that swipes. That is exactly why the industry has the reputation it has. Medical fitness only works as a category if the companies claiming it are willing to say who it does not fit. So here is our list — the people we turn away, and where we send them instead.
1. You have an active injury or undiagnosed pain
Go to a physician or a physical therapist first. Not eventually — first. We do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and putting an unevaluated injury under load turns a small problem into a long one. We say this at assessments every week, and we mean it: never train around a surgery or an injury without your doctor’s clearance. When you are cleared or discharged, that is when our job starts — the full breakdown is in medical fitness vs. physical therapy.
2. You want a place to lift, and that’s it
Respect. If you are healthy, experienced, and self-sufficient, a commercial gym membership is a fraction of our price and it is the correct purchase. Medical fitness exists for bodies that need context — a health history, a condition, a surgery, decades of desk work — built into the programming. If you do not need that, do not pay for it.
3. You want it done for you
We are done-with-you at a done-for-you standard: the thinking, the screening, the programming, the progression — all handled. The execution is yours. Nobody can contract a muscle on your behalf. If you are looking for a service where showing up is optional and results arrive anyway, that service does not exist anywhere, and we will not pretend to sell it.
4. You want a six-week transformation
Shred challenges and crash timelines are the fitness industry’s payday-loan business model: fast, dramatic, and designed to have you back at a worse baseline by summer. Everything we build is aimed at the opposite — capacity that holds at 50, 60, 70. If the deadline is a vacation, we are the wrong tool.
5. You need medical treatment
A diagnosis, a prescription, a treatment plan — those come from licensed clinicians, and only from them. We sound clinical because our standards are, but we are not a medical practice and we will not act like one. Clients managing a condition train with us alongside their physician’s oversight, never instead of it.
So who is it for?
The person physical therapy discharged at “functional” who knows functional is not strong. The person with a diagnosis — managed, cleared — whom every gym treats as a liability. The post-op body with clearance and no plan. The 40-, 50-, 60-year-old who knows the next decade of their health is being decided now. The beginner who needs their health history taken seriously before anyone hands them a barbell. If that is you, start with what medical fitness actually is, or find your program.
We are medical fitness. Saying no to the wrong fit is part of the standard — it is what keeps the yes worth something.
