Alex Lamy

More than ten years coaching. Rebuilt his own shoulder and knees without surgery. Consistency over intensity.

About Alex

Alex has coached for more than ten years, and he still believes the basics win.

Alex came up through high school sports and martial arts. He could not afford a coach, so he taught himself the squat, bench press and deadlift and studied how the body moves. That curiosity became more than a decade of coaching.

He has worked back from rotator cuff tears and chronic patellar tendinitis without surgery, using structured strength work, physical therapy techniques, nutrition and sleep. He knows what a slow, honest rebuild looks like because he has done it himself.

He joined Redefine because it is built the way he believes the best fitness companies will run: well equipped, private, and measured by the quality of service every client gets.

Who Alex works best with

First timers who feel intimidated walking in. Alex loves teaching the fundamentals of lifting and nutrition, because a strong foundation and steady consistency carry people further than any complicated program.

A win Alex is proud of

One client lost more than 110 pounds over two years and has kept it off. No shortcuts: the same basic principles, practiced every day.

What most people get wrong

That training has to be hard every time. Good training is relative to your experience, your current fitness and your goals. After ten years, Alex is sure of one thing: consistency beats intensity, especially for quality of life and longevity.

In Alex’s words

“If a person has a strong foundation and a good grasp of the basics, they can be very successful, as long as they stay consistent.”

“Consistency will always beat intensity.”
The Standard

What it takes to coach at Redefine

Nobody trains clients at Redefine Fitness without passing a screening test, an in-person skill practical, and a written exam just to get hired, then testing out of a 30-day onboarding against our 100-page Training Master Guide. Every Thursday from 1-2 PM we close both gyms so the entire staff trains together, and every specialist sits annual exams on a tiered education ladder. We also created a New York State Department of Labor approved Fitness Specialist apprenticeship. Fitness is medicine, and this is what the standard behind it looks like.
